Why Partner with Us

Quality in Action isn’t about oversight, it’s about partnership. Working together, we can align your local insight with our national perspective to drive meaningful, measurable improvements in ob-gyn care in your hospital or health system.

Quality in Action brings the full weight of the American College of Obstetrician & Gynecologists’s (ACOG) clinical rigor, safety standards, and evidence-based guidelines for ob-gyn care to your institution. Plus, as a federally designated PSO, Quality in Action provides a confidential, legally protected space for you to analyze obstetric and gynecologic patient safety events and develop a plan for improvement.

What Is a Patient Safety Organization?

A patient safety organization (PSO) works with hospitals and health systems to help them improve the quality and safety of health care. PSOs analyze voluntarily reported data and provide feedback to promote learning and minimize patient risk. The information that hospitals and health systems report to a PSO receives certain legal protections and is transmitted to the Network of Patient Safety Databases (NPSD), which includes a variety of data reporting tools. PSOs were created by the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 (the Patient Safety Act). The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, on behalf of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, lists entities as PSOs when they meet the applicable requirements in the Patient Safety Act.
